VISIT TO SONGA MBELE NA MASOMO CHILDREN CENTRE 2022

In life, there is nothing that pleasures one’s heart than to touch somebody else’s life. To make a positive impact on them. To see people’s lives, change for the better because of your kindness.

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program we support Songa Mbele Na Masomo Children Centre which is a community-based Centre, legally registered as a Community Based Organization (CBO) with the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Services in the Republic of Kenya, and recognized by the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) in the Republic of Kenya. The Centre serves children living with disabilities from Mukuru slams in the outcasts of our environ South B. The Centre helps children who have never been to school, or who dropped out of school, by giving them academic coaching and later integrating them to the mainstream schools.

On 16th November 2022 we were invited to be part of their closing Day and be able to interact with both the parents and children as well the staff of the Centre. We had a wonderful welcome from jovial Sister Mary Akinyi who took as through the progress since our last visit. We visited the different classes and facilities they have to support the children and we were impressed. Sister Mary highlighted that the biggest challenge the Centre has is the feeding program whatever little they get from donations goes a long way in feeding the children a day at a time.

The chairman of the Sacco Mr. Elly Ndwiga appreciated the Centre for doing God’s work by helping the children with special needs in the middle of Mukuru slums. He further encouraged the parents and staff to join the Sacco to enable them save and take up loans at affordable rate that will enable them improve their way of life through different projects they partake in. he closed his remarks by wishing everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Sister Mary was overjoyed she lacked words but we could see on her face how happy she was. We were glad we made an impact to the Centre and we hope to do more in the near future.

We really had a wonderful day with the kids, their families and staff of the Centre we were able to share much needed necessities needed to support them during their stay at the Centre. We appreciate the contributions we received from our Dear members, Board of Directors and Staff for helping facilitate us with the whole program.
